Arugula “Love Potion” Pesto (Vegan Friendly)

Traveling and exploring new territories (currently in Spain) afforded me the luxury of getting better acquainted with different selections of food. Today, I’d like to discuss a vegetable native to the Mediterranean area known as arugula.

Arugula is a hydrating leafy vegetable high in fiber, antioxidants, and may help reduce the risk of developing different forms of cancer. It is great for weight loss and bone health. Arugula supplys us with nutrients such as, vitamin k which improves absorption of calcium, and also retains a  high ratio of B vitamins like folate.

Great, now that we got that out of the way, let’s talk about something else…

Did you know that the ancient Roman’s considered Arugula as an aprhodisiac. It was used to create love potions in combination with other herbs such as lavender, fennel, and anise.

Cool, right?

In more modern times, Dr. Walt Latimore, a well-known physician, considered Arugula one of the seven most effective herbs to have, to put some “sizzle back into your sex life.” Guess what else is on that list?

Ready to eat something sexy?

Here is a recipe that you can use to make a pesto sauce using arugula if you’re looking to spice things up in and out of the bedroom. Enjoy!

Ingredients:

2 cups arugula

2/3 cup walnuts

2 Tbsp Lemon Juice 🍋

8 Tbsp Extra Virgin Olive Oil

1/4 Tbsp Himalayan Pink Sea Salt

2 Tbsp Nutritional Yeast

Directions:

  1. Excluding the nutritional yeast, place the ingredients above into a blender and begin blending until the sauce is creamy.
  2. Pour the contents into a bowl and mix in the nutritional yeast. (Optional: you may also add an additional tbsp of walnuts into the mix)

Congrats on making your new love potion! You can use as a dip or serve it with pasta. Let the love begin!
